What is the NC Freedom Fest?

NC Freedom Fest is a FREE, annual, family-friendly festival held in Downtown Goldsboro, North Carolina, dedicated to honoring military personnel, veterans, and first responders. This event acts as a major community celebration that unites residents and service members, especially those from nearby Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

The festival follows a “one community” approach, offering a mix of patriotic tributes and traditional street fair fun:

  • Military Appreciation: The event features a military awards ceremony, an art contest, and a signature F-15 flyover.
  • Street Fair: A five-hour street fair (usually from noon to 5:00 PM) includes local craft vendors, commercial booths, and informational displays.
  • Live Entertainment: Free concerts across multiple stages. Past headliners have included country artists like Parmalee and Ashley Cooke.
  • Car & Bike Show: Hosted by the Wayne County Cruisers on Center Street.
  • Family Fun: A dedicated Kids Zone with inflatables and interactive activities, as well as a “Family Inclusive Area” for those who prefer a quieter environment away from the main concert crowds.
  • Static Displays: Hands-on opportunities to see military and emergency vehicles up close.
