NC Freedom Fest brought together the sponsors and volunteers who help make the festival possible for an evening of appreciation and reflection at the Elks Lodge in Goldsboro.
The gathering gave organizers an opportunity to recognize the people and businesses whose support is instrumental in coordinating NC Freedom Fest and keeping the event free and accessible to the community.
NC Freedom Fest President Doug McGrath spoke about the festival’s impact and emphasized the vital role sponsors and volunteers play in its continued success. Their financial support, time and dedication help bring the celebration to life each year while allowing families throughout the community to attend at no cost.
The evening also featured a powerful personal story. Eric Ostendorf, a member of the NC Freedom Fest team, introduced his brother-in-law, SFC Cory Remsburg, who was injured during a military deployment. Attendees watched a video offering a glimpse into what a typical day in Cory’s life looks like, providing a moving reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve.
With the festival just weeks away, the evening served as both a thank-you and a reminder of why NC Freedom Fest exists—to honor heroes and bring the community together.
NC Freedom Fest 2026 takes place Saturday, September 12, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Downtown Goldsboro. The free event will feature live music, family activities and a tribute to those who serve, with T. Davis opening for headliner Ashley McBryde.
NC Freedom Fest thanks every sponsor and volunteer who helps make this celebration possible.
