NC Freedom Fest was proud to partner with the Wilson Warbirds for Heroes Night on Friday, July 31, bringing a little patriotic spirit to the ballpark while promoting this year’s festival in Downtown Goldsboro.
Our committee members and volunteers welcomed fans at an informational booth where we handed out fans, stickers, bracelets, baseballs, and plushies. It was a great opportunity to meet families from across eastern North Carolina and share what they can expect at this year’s festival.
NC Freedom Fest President Doug McGrath had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, while Jet, the official NC Freedom Fest mascot, joined Wilt, the Wilson Warbirds mascot, in many of the evening’s traditions. The two mascots rode into the stadium in the bed of a truck, tossed T-shirts to fans, greeted children throughout the game, posed for photos, and Jet even gave away plushies of himself to excited young fans.
The partnership also served as a successful fundraiser for NC Freedom Fest. More than 80% of the reserved ticket blockwas sold. Supporters gathered in Section 114 to enjoy the game. Each ticket included a hot dog, drink, and ice cream, making it a fun evening while helping support our mission of honoring those who serve.
We’re grateful to the Wilson Warbirds, our volunteers, and everyone who purchased tickets and stopped by our booth. Community partnerships like these help make NC Freedom Fest possible.
